The 2018 Mandatory Continuing Professional Development requirements comprise one full day mandatory course (6 credits) and an elective of choice (3 credits). Members are encouraged to register for the Mandatory Course as soon as possible, as classes are expected to fill quickly. We cannot accommodate additional registrants once a class is full.

  • Part One – Mandatory Course (6 credits): This year’s mandatory course is a one-day classroom course entitled: 2018 NBREA Update for REALTORS®:“Complaints and Discipline & Co-Regulation” which you will register for online here ($210+ HST). See course schedule below for session dates and locations.
  • Part Two – Elective Member Choice (3 credits): You have the opportunity to select from a prescribed list of online courses and other options to complete the elective option. To register for the elective online course, visit the NBCC online course page and scroll down to “Real Estate”. Eligible courses include ETHI1057S, LEGL1095A, SAAL1814, or LEGL1049A. Other approved courses include those offered by local boards and pre-approved by NBREA.

NOTE: Members may also complete approved elective options that are not on the above list, by getting prior approval from the Director of Education. Upon completing these courses, members must send proof of registration/attendance to the Director of Education (education@nbrea.ca). It is the responsibility of the member to provide this documentation.

About the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development Requirements

The Mandatory Continuing Professional Development requirement is determined by the Committee of Examiners and approved by the Finance and Consumer Services Commission (FCNB).  Anyone who holds a real estate license, whether it is a salesperson, or agent/manager, must complete the requirements set forth.  Members licensed as Agents or Managers may have additional requirements to be completed within the given time period.

This information guide is intended to provide registrants with an overview of the guidelines and procedures for the Mandatory Continuing Professional Development requirements. It is your responsibility to read, understand and adhere to all guidelines.

The MCPD requirements are in place to assist real estate professionals in gaining knowledge to better serve and protect the public, to improve the professional image of industry and to reduce potential claims against registrants.  For further information, or for clarification of any information contained in this publication, please contact the NBREA’s Director of Education at education@nbrea.ca.
